A UFC fighter drew attention on Sunday after making a controversial comment during a post-fight interview following his victory at a special event held on the White House lawn.

Josh Hokit defeated fellow heavyweight Derrick Lewis at the UFC Freedom 250 event, which was organized to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States.

After the match, Hokit spoke with UFC commentator Joe Rogan. As the interview came to a close, he surprised many viewers by making a remark about former First Lady Michelle Obama.

“Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” Hokit said.

Videos shared online showed mixed reactions from those in attendance, with some audience members laughing while others appeared surprised by the statement.

Rogan did not respond directly to the comment and instead concluded the interview by saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.”

The event took place on the front lawn of the White House and was attended by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with several well-known figures from sports, entertainment and business.

Among those present were UFC CEO Dana White, TKO Group Holdings executive chairman Ari Emanuel, comedians Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe, Vice President JD Vance, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Ivanka Trump, country singer Alexis Wilkins, Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek and boxer Tyson Fury.

The UFC Freedom 250 event had already generated discussion in the weeks leading up to fight night.

Joe Rogan previously expressed concerns about staging championship-level fights outdoors rather than inside a controlled arena environment. During an episode of his podcast, he questioned the decision to host fights outside and cited weather-related concerns.

Rogan also commented on the broader global situation at the time, noting that the event was taking place amid ongoing tensions involving Iran.

Despite the debate surrounding the venue, the event moved forward and attracted significant attention due to its unique White House setting.

Meanwhile, country music star Zac Brown defended his decision to perform at the event, saying his appearance was about honoring America and supporting military service members rather than politics.

Hokit’s post-fight remark quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night, generating discussion online following the event.
