YouTuber Tyler Oliveira Calls Off India ‘Poop-Throwing Festival’ Video After Threats, Says He ‘Underestimated’ Backlash

YouTuber Tyler Oliveira has announced that he will no longer release his documentary about India’s “poop-throwing festival” after receiving threats and harassment following intense online backlash.

The 25-year-old creator, known for his adventurous and often provocative content, had traveled to Gorehabba village in Karnataka, India, to film a documentary about the traditional festival where villagers celebrate the end of Diwali by throwing dried cow dung at each other.

In October, Oliveira shared photos and clips from his trip, including one of him in a hazmat suit covered in brown smears, with the caption:

“Happy Diwali. Yes, I went to India’s poop-throwing festival. It was the sh*ttiest experience of my life.”

The post quickly went viral — but not for the reasons he expected. Many social media users accused the YouTuber of mocking Indian culture, while Oliveira insisted that his goal was simply to document an unusual tradition, not to offend anyone.

On November 6, Oliveira announced on social media that he was canceling the documentary’s release due to escalating threats and doxxing.

“After much consideration, I will NOT be releasing my documentary capturing India’s poop-throwing festival,” he wrote. “I have been doxxed and threatened by thousands of Indians over the last two weeks. My family has been attacked in ways I never could have imagined.”

He described the trip as “the worst decision” of his life, admitting he had “underestimated” the backlash, and added humorously that he “can’t defeat 1.5 billion Indians.”

“I just wanted to participate in this unusual festival and share it with the world. I ask that all Indians reading this please leave my family alone,” he said.

Addressing speculation that the announcement was a publicity stunt, Oliveira confirmed to Dexerto that the decision was final.

“Sadly not bait,” he told the outlet. “Just not worth it. I’ve inadvertently dragged my family through the mud. Way worse than I ever could’ve imagined.”

As of now, Oliveira has not released the documentary and says he has no plans to revisit the topic.
