Trump Slammed as ‘Hypocritical’ After Footage Shows Bad Bunny Playing at His Own Super Bowl Party

Footage circulating online has sparked backlash after showing President Donald Trump watching Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show at his own viewing party—despite previously attacking the performance as “terrible” and un-American.

Trump did not attend the Super Bowl in person, saying the event in Santa Clara, California, was too far to travel. Instead, he hosted a watch party at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida while the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13.

Before the game, Trump had publicly criticized the NFL’s choice of halftime performers, singling out Bad Bunny and Green Day. He said the artists were a “terrible choice” and claimed their inclusion would “sow hatred.”

Footage from Trump’s Super Bowl party sparks backlash

Despite that criticism, video recorded inside Mar-a-Lago shows Bad Bunny’s halftime show playing on large screens during Trump’s party, with the former president and his guests watching along.

The footage quickly went viral, with critics accusing Trump of hypocrisy—especially after Turning Point USA (TPUSA) promoted an alternative “All-American” halftime show featuring acts like Kid Rock and Christian-themed performances.

One user on X wrote that the clip proved Trump’s outrage was “performative,” while others mocked the contrast between his public condemnation and private viewing choice.

Trump doubles down with harsh criticism

Following the game, Trump confirmed that he watched Bad Bunny’s halftime show and unleashed a lengthy post criticizing the performance.

He called it “one of the worst” halftime shows ever, claiming it did not reflect American “success, creativity, or excellence.” Trump also complained that viewers “couldn’t understand a word” Bad Bunny was saying and described the dancing as inappropriate for children.

The remarks triggered further backlash online, especially after it became clear that Trump had chosen to watch the very performance he condemned rather than the TPUSA alternative.

British broadcaster Piers Morgan publicly disagreed with Trump, praising Bad Bunny’s performance and highlighting that Spanish is the first language for tens of millions of Americans.

As the footage continues to circulate, critics say the episode undercuts Trump’s criticism—fueling accusations that his outrage over the halftime show didn’t match his actions.
