According to authorities, the unusual incident took place on March 24, when 41-year-old Ricardo Otero arrived at the Salinas Courthouse for his scheduled appearance.
Spotted in Stolen Car Outside Courthouse
Officials said members of the Multi-Agency Detail Combating Auto Theft (MADCAT) task force noticed Otero pulling into the courthouse parking lot in a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of San Jose.
He had been due to appear in court that same morning over an earlier auto theft case.
Deputies approached Otero outside the courtroom before he could go inside and took him into custody without any resistance.

Arrest Adds More Charges
Authorities said Otero was booked at Monterey County Jail on multiple charges.
These include unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle, committing a felony while released on bail or on his own recognizance, and driving with a suspended license.
The new charges have reportedly made his legal situation even more serious, adding to the case he was already facing.
