A Tennessee homeowner was left stunned after discovering that her entire concrete driveway had been removed — without her knowledge or permission — in what can only be described as a bizarre case of mistaken demolition.
Paige Batten, a local realtor, bought the property in 2024 as a renovation project and planned to resell it. Over the summer, she listed the home for sale. The strange discovery came when a potential buyer contacted her to ask when the driveway would be finished.
Batten told the caller that the driveway was already there, even though it had a few cracks. The buyer then suggested they might be looking at the wrong house. That’s when Batten realized something was very wrong.
According to Batten, at least three vehicles were seen at the property on November 14. After speaking with neighbors, she learned that a truck with a trailer, a dump truck carrying a backhoe, and a king cab truck with another backhoe were on site.
Neighbors said the vehicles were there from around 9:00 a.m. until just after 11:00 a.m. Some reported hearing loud machinery that sounded like construction equipment, while others actually saw workers removing the driveway.
Many neighbors assumed Batten had hired a crew to replace the driveway and didn’t question the activity.

Batten said she contacted the non-emergency police line but struggled to explain the situation because it sounded so unbelievable.
She said people were in shock when they saw the photos of the missing driveway, and some even thought the images were created by artificial intelligence. Batten insisted that the situation was very real.
One neighbor shared that she witnessed the crew removing the driveway while taking her children to the bus stop but believed the work was legitimate.
Batten believes the workers may have simply gone to the wrong address and removed the wrong driveway by accident. She hopes whoever did the work will come forward and admit the mistake.
If no one steps forward, she estimates the repair and replacement could cost her nearly $12,000.
For now, she says her main goal is to find out who removed the driveway so the issue can be corrected without her having to pay for the damage.
