A Florida man was arrested after crashing a stolen BMW at high speed and giving deputies one of the most bizarre explanations they’ve ever heard — he said he teleported into the car.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Calvin Curtis Johnson, was found bloodied, dazed and confused next to the wrecked vehicle on a Volusia County highway, according to police bodycam footage.

Deputies said the BMW was stolen from Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach, where the owner had left the keys inside a closed cupholder while walking his dog.
A witness at the park recalled seeing a confused man getting into the car and repeatedly asking for a lighter.
Moments later, the BMW was seen flying down the road at speeds reported to be over 100 mph — with another witness estimating it reached 130 mph before crashing into trees and brush.
When deputies arrived, Johnson struggled to explain what happened.
“I don’t know how I got in the car,” he told them.
“I teleported or something.”

When asked again how he obtained the vehicle, he repeated the same answer:
“I don’t know. I teleported.”
Bodycam footage also captured a series of strange comments from the suspect.
Johnson told deputies that someone was “in his head,” and at one point said:
“You saved me from the aliens!”
A bystander at the crash scene told officers the BMW had to be cut open to free Johnson, and that his seatbelt likely saved his life. Others shouted at him out of frustration before walking away.
The crashed 2018 gray BMW was found badly damaged, with smoke and flames coming from inside the car and surrounding brush as bystanders attempted to put them out.
Johnson was taken to a hospital following the crash and will later be booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail.
He is charged with:
- Grand theft of a motor vehicle
- Driving with a suspended license
Deputies also used the case as a reminder for residents to lock their vehicles while visiting local parks.
