A teaching assistant in South Carolina was arrested after deputies say he repeatedly sprayed a foul-smelling “poop spray” inside a high school, sickening students and leaving the school with tens of thousands of dollars in damages.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office said Alexander Paul Robertson Lewis, 32, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with disturbing schools and malicious injury to property.

Investigators said Lewis used the prank spray multiple times at West Florence High School between Aug. 25 and Sept. 19. The spray, sold online and marketed to mimic the stench of feces, has become popular in viral TikTok pranks where people use it in cars, homes, and public spaces.

Authorities said the stench disrupted school operations and even forced some students to seek medical attention for respiratory problems. The odor also damaged the school’s air-conditioning system, which required inspection and repairs totaling more than $55,000.
Lewis was booked into the Florence County Detention Center but was later released, jail officials confirmed.
The case mirrors other recent incidents tied to “fart spray” pranks. In 2023, two Texas teenagers were criminally charged after their stunt forced a school evacuation, canceled classes, and sent students to the hospital.
